Noosphere Ventures to Bring Next Big Thing to Air Sports Feb 9, 2017 Noosphere Ventures and FAI Partnership

February 2, 2017, marked a significant event for everyone involved in the air sports industry. FAI, World Air Sports Federation, and Noosphere Ventures established a new strategic partnership to make Noosphere Ventures FAI’s Global Technical Partner.

The technical partnership agreement was signed by Noosphere Ventures Managing Partner Max Polyakov, FAI President Frits Brink and Secretary General Susanne Schödel. It outlines several areas they will be working together on. Given all the technical and science capacity of the Noosphere Ventures, the partnership promised to start a technical revolution for FAI, creating a new momentum for this long-standing, international institution with 112 years of history.

“Through our strategic partnership with FAI, we are eager to bring the innovation revolution to the world of technical sports. Our first steps will focus on providing modern tracking solutions to air sports. We believe that it takes teamwork to develop truly valuable products. Wikipedia, Uber, and Airbnb are only possible because of collaborative efforts and are now changing the landscape of the current digital economy. This is why Noosphere is creating special events with the FAI to engage with global communities of entrepreneurs and scientists.”
— Max Polyakov, Managing Partner of Noosphere Ventures
“I am very pleased to be able to announce this new technical partnership with Noosphere. The competition and event management system that Noosphere is developing for the FAI will enable us to manage competition data and results with even greater efficiency than ever before.”
— Frits Brink, FAI President

FAI started working with Noosphere Ventures nearly 2 years ago. In 2015, Noosphere organized the FAI European Championship for Space Models, the next year, they hosted the FAI World Championship for Space Models 2016. Even then, Noosphere Ventures took the initiative to develop software solutions for FAI to use. The event management and scoring tool, Cup Navigator, was designed specifically for these two events and its performance paralleled the excellent performance of the competitors during the events.

As the partnership officially gets underway, Noosphere Ventures will start by adapting Cup Navigator to work with the wide variety of air sports supported by FAI as well as development a high-end competition results tracking system. The latter will be designed to optimize competition result tracking, improve result measurement accuracy and simplify competition data management. The debut for these solutions will be the IWGA World Games in Wroclaw, Poland, in July 2017.

To complement its existing initiatives, Noosphere will also launch a hackathon for engineering enthusiasts and students of the most prominent Ukrainian universities. The hackathon will be a competitive brainstorming session on an FAI tесhnical assignment. The winners will be taken on by the FAI expert committee and given support to implement their project by creating a prototype. The winning team will be invited to the upcoming FAI championships to test its prototype on site.

In addition, FAI will be given access to Noosphere’s in-house-designed volunteer management system. The system has a proven track record with Noosphere Events and other social initiatives of Noosphere in Ukraine. As a matter of fact, the volunteer management system was designed to simplify all aspects of working with volunteers, who have come out in record numbers in response to the tragic events that have taken place in Ukraine over the past three years. With almost 700 competitions by FAI per year, this system will significantly improve the processes involved in volunteer relationship management.

Noosphere Ventures is excited to implement these solutions into an already highly-technical organization. As the competitors work hard to overcome gravity and use it to shape their crafts, Noosphere Ventures is working hard to improve the accuracy and transparency of the events, so they can focus on what they do best. By working together, these two organizations will overcome the increasingly difficult challenges ahead and launch the air sports industry to new heights of unity, success and innovation. Citius, Altius, Fortius!
