SETS delivered 2nd SPS-25 Hall thrusters system for commercial mission

Dr. Max Polyakov’s company SETS, a provider of electric propulsion systems based on Hall thruster technology, has successfully tested the cluster of two ST-25 hall thrusters in the SETS Space Lab vacuum chamber as a part of the strategic roadmap for future space missions.
The purpose of this propulsion system is to maintain the satellite in the target orbit during its lifetime and to deorbit after successfully completing a mission. The SPS-25 has numerous technical advantages, from small size to low-power consumption.
The team of SETS engineers successfully tested the cluster of two ST-25 hall thrusters and achieved stable simultaneous operation of both thrusters by powering from one power supply PPU-500 and by two separate power supplies as well. The clusterisation of small thrusters brings a higher thrust and power and offers crucial satellite operator advantages such as system reliability, redundancy, and a new way of attitude operation capabilities
This is already the second delivery for a commercial mission. The SPS-25 has already been shipped to the customer for further integration into the satellite and will be launched on SpaceX’s Falcon 9 launch vehicle this fall.
